Kantine, a female-owned, daytime restaurant and bakery located at 1906 Market Street in San Francisco, is looking for a professional and creative sous chef to join our team.
What we seek in the perfect candidate:
A highly self-motivated team player with a positive attitude, and who is excellent at multi-tasking and maintaining composure under pressure
Enthusiasm and pride in making organic, sustainable Scandinavian food that’s chockfull of good flavor
Min. 1 year relevant industry experience with solid skills in food preparation and management
A willingness to work mornings and weekends as required
A high level of professionalism while at work, treating all employees with respect
Basic computer skills (Word, Email, Excel)
Spanish language proficiency
Fast-casual restaurant experience
Basic knowledge of the Scandinavian cuisines
ServSafe Manager certification
Manage and assist in preparing daily mis-en-place for all stations and expediting service
Oversee and assist the kitchen staff in all aspects of food production
Collaborate with the Chef to develop new menu items
Order all foods and paper products
Establish and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment
Maintain all aspects of staffing, includes hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and terminating.
Consistently refine existing kitchen and restaurant systems and maintain our recipe books to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency
Maintain positive communication with our staff to ensure that operational needs are met and staff food knowledge is complete
Help with other duties during episodes of unexpected absence or extra volume. Includes working the line, when necessary
